Nia is a cardio dance group fitness class that incorporates martial arts, dance arts and healing arts. As an ongoing practice, Nia promotes mindfulness, holistic fitness and well-being. Nia empowers people of all shapes and sizes to connect to their body, mind, emotions and spirit by paying attention to sensation.
This one-hour class is perfect for all levels of experience and fitness.

Want to learn tango? Come join the UF Argentine Tango Club for a free beginner tango class. Feel free to join even if you have never danced tango before, there are teachers for whatever level you might be.
Who: Everyone can come. The beginner class is geared for people who have never danced before or who want to practice the basics. The intermediate class is for those who have been to at least some classes and is for you if you feel ready and confident enough to learn some new steps. The advanced class is for those who have been dancing for a long while now and will feature more complicated steps, so ask a teacher to make sure you are experienced enough for this level.

New series for beginners. This series caters to people who have never danced before. This is a progressive series, starting at the beginning.
Experienced dancers are encouraged to attend this series as well. We have a group of experienced dancers who have been through this series before. If you have experience, you can dance with them during this time.
Each class is one hour and consists of both instruction and dancing.
Couples friendly, you rotate as much as you want or not at all. Singles friendly, no partner needed.
The more you dance, the faster you learn.
The cost is for one class per person. You are invited to stay for the other classes on the same night at no extra charge, because we want you to dance more and learn faster.

This event is completely free so come check it out if you have not. You may come alone or with a group of friends. Coming with a dance partner is not necessary and no prior dance experience is required.

Fri 7 Dec, 6-8:30 pm. Experience the magic of the holiday season during the annual Nights of Lights at Fort Cooper State Park. The park will be decorated in its holiday finest.
This year’s Nights of Lights will be held on December 7, 8 & 9, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. The walkways, trees, pavilion and recreation hall are decked out with thousands of lights and lots of holiday decorations. Santa and Mrs. Claus will welcome children each night in the recreation hall. Visitors can roast marshmallows and create their own s’mores at a BBQ pit supervised by volunteers from the Friends of Fort Cooper. Enjoy some refreshments which are served in the pavilion as you listen to the holiday music.
In lieu of an entrance fee, visitors are asked to bring a non-perishable food item or toy for the Citrus United Basket of Inverness or pet food for the Citrus County Animal services. Sat 8 Dec, 10:30 am. Join a Ranger for a Guided Paddle with great wildlife viewing opportunities and learn the history of the park and the Ecosystem of the beautiful Ichetucknee River. The tour starts at the North Entrance, off Elim Church Road (County Road 238). Launch time will be Between 10-11 am. The tour ends at the last take-out at the south end of the park, and transportation will be provided back to the North Entrance. Participants should dress for the weather (mornings may be cool). Underwater GoPro-style cameras captured amazing footage on previous tours.

Sun 9 Dec, 6-8:30 pm. Experience the magic of the holiday season during the annual Nights of Lights at Fort Cooper State Park. The park will be decorated in its holiday finest.
This year’s Nights of Lights will be held on December 7, 8 & 9, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. The walkways, trees, pavilion and recreation hall are decked out with thousands of lights and lots of holiday decorations. Santa and Mrs. Claus will welcome children each night in the recreation hall. Visitors can roast marshmallows and create their own s’mores at a BBQ pit supervised by volunteers from the Friends of Fort Cooper. Enjoy some refreshments which are served in the pavilion as you listen to the holiday music.
In lieu of an entrance fee, visitors are asked to bring a non-perishable food item or toy for the Citrus United Basket of Inverness or pet food for the Citrus County Animal services. Want to learn tango? Come join the UF Argentine Tango Club for a free beginner tango class. Feel free to join even if you have never danced tango before, there are teachers for whatever level you might be.
Who: Everyone can come. The beginner class is geared for people who have never danced before or who want to practice the basics. The intermediate class is for those who have been to at least some classes and is for you if you feel ready and confident enough to learn some new steps. The advanced class is for those who have been dancing for a long while now and will feature more complicated steps, so ask a teacher to make sure you are experienced enough for this level.

Sat 22 Dec, 5 pm. Enjoy a ranger-guided canoe paddle down the Ichetucknee River as the sun sets and full moon begins to illuminate the river. Listen to the sounds of a day’s end and a night’s awakening. Paddlers should bring a small light source for the end of the trip.
