Warren Adler and Stewie Stone on the Influence of the Borscht-Belt Comedians on Mainstream American Humor Critically acclaimed author Warren Adler and NYC all-around comedy treasure Stewie Stone discuss the impact of the Borscht Belt and the quintessential Jewish humor it spawned, and its vast influence on contemporary American humor.
Warren Adler is the author of 29 novels and five short story collections. His two novels, The War of the Roses and Random Hearts were adapted to film, and a previous short story collection, The Sunset Gang, became a successful trilogy on PBS. His most recent books are Funny Boys and New York Echoes. Brooklyn born Stewie Stone is one of NYC's comedy treasures. His career has taken him to all the major entertainments venues including Carnegie Hall, and just this past season performed twice at Lincoln Center's Rose Hall. Smart, knowledgable, and just plain Funny, Stewie is an officiating member of the Friar's Club.
