Dances for Airports

Sun 6 Feb, 3 pm. 1395 Lexington Avenue, New York, 10128. 212-415-5500. 10. 92nd Street Y - [email][events]

Sarah Skaggs Dances for Disasters is a series of post-9/11 dance work that asks the question: What do we “dance” about in disastrous times? Skaggs will perform sections from Dances for Airports, an evening-length work in progress danced to Brian Eno’s Music for Airports, and a section from Ambient Dance, music by Henryk Gorecki. Meditative, repetitive and post-minimalist, these new dances work with movement that creates intensely focused and reflective environments. Post-performance discussion moderated by choreographer and dancer Douglas Dunn. The completed project will premiere in September 2011 for the 10th anniversary of 9/11. Date & Time: Sun, Feb 6, 2011, 3:00pm Location: Lexington Avenue at 92nd Street Directions Venue: Buttenwieser Hall Code: T-DP
