Markers of Identity in the Jewish Colony of Elephantine(2) Presenter:Alejandro F. Botta is Assistant Professor of Hebrew Bible, Boston University School of Theology. He was born in Argentina, studied Egyptology and Assyriology in Würzburg, Germany, and earned his doctorate summa cum laude from the Department of History of the Jewish People, Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He has taught and/or lectured in Latin America, Europe, Israel and the United States. He has recently published The Aramaic and Egyptian Legal Traditions at Elephantine: An Egyptological Approach (New York, 2009) and is presently working on an Aramaic Namebook from Ancient Egypt (with Bezalel Porten).
