Paula Fredriksen's provocative book, Augustine and the Jews – A Christian Defense of Jews and Judaism, traces the social and intellectual forces that led to the development of Christian anti-Judaism and shows how and why Augustine challenged this toxic tradition. The book traces a tangled history while relating the story of one man's astonishing and unique response to it. Fredriksen, a professor in the Department of Religion at Boston University, discusses her book at the Vilna Shul (18 Phillips Street) in Boston on Sunday, November 13 at 11am. Cost is $10.
