January 08, 2012—10:30 AM to 12:00 PM Congregation Eitz Chayim, 136 Magazine Street, Cambridge, MA 02139 Eric Grunebaum will show and discuss his latest film, The Last Mountain, which focuses on one West Virginia community's fight to stop an extreme form of strip- mining. It pits a mining giant that wants to destroy the hills nearby to extract coal, against a community fighting to preserve itself and build a wind farm instead. Bobby Kennedy, Jr. is enlisted as an advocate for the community, while the powerful fossil fuel industry twists democracy to its advantage. The Last Mountain highlights a critical battle for the future of energy that affects us all.
Filmmaker and Eitz Chayim member Eric Grunebaum produces documentaries
and museum exhibit media. He is currently proposing to foundations that the film
be transformed into a traveling exhibit on coal so that Americans can be better
informed of its impacts. The Last Mountain premiered at the Sundance Film
Festival and was released nationwide over the summer. The trailer can be seen
