Len Jenkin's adaptation of Beverly Cleary's books follows a year in the life of the exuberant and creative Ramona Quimby. As narrator, Ramona's older sister Beezus sets up vignettes that trace Ramona's tumultuous passage through third grade. The Quimby's togetherness when the father is unexpectedly fired from his job is a clear statement of the value of strong family relationships. Along with the discovery that life is not always fair, Ramona and Beezus realize that sisters may not always agree, but they can be good to have around.
