Ritual, tradition and memory are woven together through dance in choreographer Joanie Block’s dance performance, Streaming Shabbat, at the Leventhal-Sidman Jewish Community Center (333 Nahanton Street) in Newton on Saturday, October 26 at 8pm.
Using three stories centered around Shabbat, Block merges an original score by Billy Novick, video art by Lynn Bikofsky, and her own choreography. Featuring SELMADANSE, a professional dance company of six dancers, Block creates a performance that challenges, inspires and connects the audience to the rituals and power of the Jewish Sabbath.
