The Critic's Voice II: Susan Sontag Tribute with James Fenton, Richard Howard, Leon Wieseltier and others Marina Abramovic, Darryl Pinckney and Judith Thurman

To mark the publication of At the Same Time: Essays and Addresses, colleagues and friends commemorate the life and work of Susan Sontag—acclaimed novelist, essayist, film director and human rights activist. Ms. Sontag received numerous awards during her lifetime, including the National Book Award for the novel In America, the National Book Critics Circle Award for On Photography, as well as a MacArthur Fellowship and the Jerusalem Prize. “The theme that runs through Susan’s writing,” said Leon Wieseltier, “is this lifelong struggle to arrive at the proper balance between the moral and the aesthetic.”
