Booker Prize-winner Roddy Doyle's novels include The Commitments, Paddy Clarke Ha Ha Ha, The Woman Who Walked into Doors and Paula Spencer. "No one has done so much to create a new set of images for the Ireland of the late twentieth century," said The New York Times. Doyle's new collection of stories is The Deportees. A.L. Kennedy is "a writer rich in the humanity and warmth that seems at a premium in these bleak times," wrote Salman Rushdie. Kennedy's books include Original Bliss, Indelible Acts and Paradise.
