Sun 10 Jul to Thu 14 Jul. Health and healing are central issues today—in the medical and healthcare professions, in government and business, and in the many ways that healthcare decisions impact the personal and family lives of just about everyone. Debates over treatments, preventive strategies, ethics, and even spirituality have become flashpoints for political campaigns, medical research, and religious debate. What does Judaism have to say about health and healing? How can faith positively inform professional and personal medical decisions? And what can Jewish thought teach us about today’s complex, scientifically oriented medical world? To address these critical contemporary concerns, Spertus is pleased to present a unique Graduate Certificate Program titled Health and Healing. 610 South Michigan Ave., Chicago, 60605. Tue 12 Jul, 7 pm. Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at 7:00pm Presented by Titia Bozuwa, Author In The Emperor’s Guest, Bozuwa gives a riveting account of her husband’s WWII experiences. After Pearl Harbor, the Japanese invaded the island of Java where Gijs Bozuwa’s father was commander of the Dutch Naval Air Force. The ensuing tale of this Dutch family is a spellbinding account of the transition from colonialists to captives in a country far from an equally war-torn motherland. The story chronicles shipwrecks, escape attempts, military and national honor, and the way in which people coalesce in difficult times. Join us for a presentation and book signing by the author. Admission is $5 per person and free for Wright Museum members. R.S.V.P.s are strongly encouraged to ensure sufficie. 77 Center Street, Wolfeboro 03894. Mark Foynes, Director, 603-569-1212. 5.
