Elif Shafak's novels include The Saint of Incipient Insanities and The Bastard of Istanbul. The Independent of London described her as "the figurehead of a new generation of writers who use literature to reconfigure Turkish identity and its relationship to the country’s history."

Charles Baxter's novels include Feast of Love, which was nominated for the National Book Award; Saul and Patsy; and, forthcoming in February of 2008, The Soul Thief.
