Monday, August 11, 7:30 pm Israel, 2006, 35mm 76 minutes, Hebrew and Russian with English subtitles Director: Itai Lev Four children with stories as different as night and day, but all bonded by the common thread of being social outsiders, embark on a courageous journey to rescue two injured teenagers in the Negev desert. A Russian girl with telepathic abilities hears the cries of the injured teenagers while traveling home on the bus from camp. She enlists the help of a fellow camper, a boy who is trying to cope with his father’s death, to attempt the rescue.
Along for the adventure is the young girl’s mentally challenged brother, who ultimately serves as their protector. During their trip they meet a boy who is an outsider on his kibbutz and the four unlikely friends bond and learn to face their fears. Along the way, their heroic personalities emerge: a warrior, a gentle giant, a magician and a thief. These four children show that with courage and teamwork, even kids can be heroes and make a difference.
