Monday, August 18, 7:30 pm Israel, 2007, video 87 minutes, Hebrew with English subtitles Director: Yuval Granot Reality meets romance meets reality in this newly released film from Israel. Johnny Cohen, a B-movie director and husband of his leading lady, falls in love with a fantasy in the form of Mia, a satellite TV saleswoman who lives in the same neighborhood. Mia is a young, intriguing and charming kleptomaniac with a strong resemblance to Julia Roberts.
Soon Johnny begins to neglect his work and family in order to make the Israeli version of the Julia Roberts’ hit Pretty Woman - starring, of course, Mia. By the time his first child is born, Johnny is obsessed with his fantasy. At first Mia refuses to see Johnny as the next Steven Spielberg and doesn’t cooperate as his new leading lady. As the affair evolves, Johnny discovers life is not easy with a girl like Mia. Johnny won’t give up on his fantasy; his wife also refuses to give up on her son’s father and her reality. Winner of Best Film at the 2007 Haifa International Film Festival.
