-- Wednesday, Aug. 20th thru Sunday, Aug. 24th, 2008, 2008 You’ve gone to Mammoth a 100 times in the winter but never in the summer. Now is your chance to discover another Mammoth and to experience it in the summer, in all its glorious beauty. Please join Mosaic Outdoor Club of Greater Los Angeles in our camping trip, for the first time ever during the summer, to Mammoth Lakes . We have a group campsite reserved in Agnew Meadows campground located in the Devils Postpile National Monument Park, from Wednesday, August 20 till Sunday, August 24, 2008. The campground is located in the eastern Sierra, west of Mammoth Lakes, in a lodgepole pine forest near trailheads to the Ansel Adams Wilderness Area, Pacific Crest and John
During the trip, there will be a choice of activities, some of which will be Mosaic led events and some of which will not be Mosaic sponsored but participants can go and experience on their own… amongst them: hiking to waterfalls & lakes, Devils Postpile, fishing, in the 2 lakes and the North Fork of the San Joaquin River, horseback riding, photography, and geology study. Other popular activities in the Mammoth Lakes area include: tubing down Owens River, relaxing in hot springs , Mono Lake http://www.monolake.org/ , as well as shopping and sightseeing in Mammoth Lakes . Red's Meadow Pack Station is located about 8 miles at the end of Red's Meadow Road with a small general store, cafe and the trail to Rainbow Falls . The campground has vault toilets, running water and nearby FREE showers. This is one trip not to be missed as it has something for everyone and it is suitable for both the beginner campers as well as more experienced ones. We would encourage campers to come for all 4 nights, but can accommodate those who would like to arrive on Thursday instead.
