The Giant Stairs

Sunday, November 2 - THE GIANT Stairs (C) (Allow at least 3.5 hours round-trip hiking time) Strenuous and 4.5 miles. Like rock scrambling in the gunks, but much closer. THIS HIKE IS NOT FOR Beginners. It is not a long distance, nor will it be fast. But it will climb across rocks, there is one steep staircase up and one steep staircase down. However, you will not be climbing up rocks for changes in elevations. Not good for knee problems.

It will not occur if it is raining or there is a forecast for rain. We will meet at the State Line Lookout rest stop. Non-member fee $5.00. Please sign-up with Melissa at melissashumer@gmail.com or (914) 255-1166. Bring lunch, water, hiking boots (absolute must!), etc. There is a concession stand with restrooms and food at the rest stop. State Line Lookout is on top of the Palisades overlooking the Hudson River in Alpine New Jersey, about 1 mile south of the New York–New Jersey state line; it has its own exit from the northbound PIP (exit not numbered) about two miles north of Exit 2 and immediately opposite the southbound-only Exit
