How many members turn out for a typical event?
The attendance at any single event is a function of many factors including activity, location of the event , the weather, expertise level, cost, day of the weekend and the whims of the membership. It is recommended that you attend all events that interest you.

How many members does the club have?
The Greater New York Chapter of Mosaic has approximately 350 members.

How long has the MOMC of Greater New York been in existence?
Since May 1992.

What are the benefits of joining, in lieu of paying the $10 non-member fee for each event I attend?

The knowledge that you are supporting the continued existence of a Jewish outdoors club and the convenience of receiving a list of club activities delivered to your mailbox monthly. While our activities are listed on the web; it does not list the leaderÂ’s phone number. That information is available in the newsletter which is sent to members, quarterly. The club strives to offer at least one event on each weekend day; if you attend more than two club events in your membership year (many do), there is of course a financial advantage. You can also attend two events and your non-member fees will be applied towards membership if you join within 30 days of attending your first Mosaic event.

How do I join?
The fastest way is to go to our website www.mosaic-gny.org to download a membership application. or call our Voice Mail Hotline at (212) 502-0820 and leave your name and address at the end of the voice mail message and a membership application will be sent out to you. If you have specific questions and wish a call back please do so as well. The membership application must be completed, signed and returned with your check. Individual memberships are only $30 if you select to have the newsletter delivered by regular mail and $25 if you have the newsletter e mailed. Family memberships are $40 for regular mail newsletter and $35 for a newsletter via e mail.) Checks are payable to MOMC of Greater New York. The Membership Chair will process your application and you will start receiving newsletters.

What does the membership dues cover?
Our annual membership dues are a real value when viewed as the unique opportunity that we provide for Jewish singles and non-singles to interact while appreciating the Outdoors. Paid members receive four issues of the Mosaic newsletter each year. Most Mosaic events are free to members except joint events with other organizations. Other organizations that cater to singles often have much higher membership and event fees.

Questions About Activities
How difficult are the hikes? An easy way to gauge the difficulty of the hike is to check with the trip rating definitions in the newsletter or on the web site. Trips are rated from A to E with A being the easiest and E being the most challenging. After checking the trip rating if you are still unsure, you can contact the group leader for information.

Can non-members come on hikes or activities?
Yes. Non-members are welcome. However, they must pay the $5 to$10 non-member fee for each event. As mentioned earlier, non-members who join within 30 days of their first Mosaic event can credit their non-member fees paid towards membership.

Hundreds of people have enjoyed our many events. Some have found new friends and even spouses. Hope you will join New York's friedliest Jewish Outdoors club soon.
