In partnership with the Duke Ellington Jazz Festival Listen to recordings and read reviews at Yardena. Israeli-born Yardena’s performances showcase her extraordinary, sultry alto voice and her captivating presence. In her brilliant recording, Yardena y Son Ladino, Yardena’s unique vocal style bridges her Jewish roots with Mediterranean/Middle Eastern influences (Moorish North Africa, Greece, the Balkans and Turkey). From the casbah to the corso, she reminds us of the common roots that these Middle Eastern and Cuban musical strains share.
From her many concerts and recordings, Yardena has earned a loyal following in the US and Europe. She is also known to audiences from television appearances on the Tonight Show, Jazz Corner, and Showtime at the Apollo. Joining Yardena will be Neil Ochoa (congas and cajón), Jonathan Powell (trumpet), Pablo Vergara (piano), Tony De Vivo (drums and choro), and Pedro Giraudo (bass and choro).
