Sunday, March 1 at 1 pm (Please note special start time.) You think Jews don’t commit crimes? Think again. In the 19th and early 20th centuries, Chicago and New York were hotbeds of criminal activity, and that activity involved not only Italians and the Irish but also thousands of Jewish gangsters.
Ron Arons reveals the history of the famous prison “up the river” from Manhattan and the Jewish criminals that served time there and probes how the New York Jewish community responded.
Ron Arons is a nationally recognized speaker on the topics of genealogy and Jewish criminals. His presentations are educational, inspirational, and entertaining. In January 2008, he appeared on the PBS television series The Jewish Americans as the resident expert on New York’s Jewish criminals, and in June, after years of research and writing, his book The Jews of Sing-Sing was published. Ron Arons earned his degrees from Princeton University and the University of Chicago.
