Joint Mosaic and Nexus Passover Hike in Mulholland Gateway Park and Topanga State Park, and Picnic on Eagle Rock,Sunday, April 12th, 2009 Please join Mosaic Outdoors Club of Greater Los Angles and Nexus for our annual joint Passover hike. We will celebrate by hiking to Eagle Rock in Topanga State Park and having a picnic at the top. The hike is about seven miles round trip, mostly on fire road, with about 800 feet of elevation gain and is rated moderate. There are restrooms at the trailhead.
IMPORTANT: All MOSAIC events require participants to sign a Liability Release Waiver at the event location. If you would like to read the waiver before the event, you can do so at http://www.mosaicla.org/signin.pdf Please email the event leader if you have any questions about this.
HIKE MEETING PLACE: Marvin Braude Mulholland Gateway Park -- see below for specific directions -- Mulholland Dr and Tarzana Fire Road; Reseda Blvd becomes Tarzana Fire Road, Tarzana, CA 91356
HIKE START TIME: Meet at the trailhead at 10:45 A.M. (directions below); leave at 11:00 A.M. SHARP!!
HIKE END TIME: 3:30 P.M.
BRING: Lunch, a snack to share, hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, and water (two liters recommended). It may be cool, so bring a jacket or sweater. There is a grass park at the trailhead, so bring a Frisbee.
FOOTWARE: comfortable walking shoes (hiking boots or running shoes recommended).

PARKING INFORMATION: You can park on Reseda Blvd for free before the park entrance or pay to park (~$5) beyond the park entrance.
Rain cancels, but clouds don't.
DIRECTIONS:
From West LA and Points South: take I-405 North to US-101 West (North). Exit US-101 at Reseda Blvd and turn left. Stay on Reseda Blvd 3.5 miles, until it ends at Marvin Braude Mulholland Gateway Park. We will meet at the end of Reseda Blvd, where it becomes a dirt trail.
From Hollywood and Downtown LA: take US-101 North. Exit US-101 at Reseda Blvd and turn left. Follow the directions above to the parking area .
From the West Valley: take US-101 East (South). Exit US-101 at Reseda Blvd and turn right. Follow the directions above to the parking area.
From Burbank and San Gabriel Valley: take CA-134 West to US-101 West (North). Exit US-101 at Reseda Blvd and turn left. Follow the directions above to the parking area.
CARPOOL POINTS: We will carpool from the West side, the Valley and and Orange County (See below).
West LA Carpool
We will carpool from Trader Joe's - 10850 National Boulevard (at Westwood). There is plenty of parking on the side streets - do not park in the Trader Joe's lot. Meet in the upper Trader Joe's lot at 10:00 AM and leave at 10:15 AM SHARP. PLEASE NOTE: Be prepared to form your own carpools if there are no Mosaic or Nexus representatives.
Valley Carpool
We will meet in Sherman Oaks, 15410 Ventura Blvd, at the Union 76 Gas Station across from Marriot Courtyard Hotel (on Ventura Blvd. just west of the 405 Fwy.). Meet at 10:15 AM and leave at 10:30 AM SHARP. PLEASE NOTE: Be prepared to form your own carpools if there are no Mosaic or Nexus representatives.
Long Beach/West Orange County Carpool
We will carpool from BEHIND CVS Pharmacy (formerly SavOn Drugs) - 12490 Seal Beach Blvd Seal Beach, CA 90740-2711 (at Saint Cloud). There is plenty of parking BETWEEN the CVS Pharmacy and the Ralph's. There is a Starbuck's and various other restaurants and stores such as ZPizza, Togo's, Island's, Target, etc. in the same parking lot. Meet in the parking lot at 9:00 AM behind the CVS Pharmacy. We leave at 9:15 AM SHARP! PLEASE NOTE: Be prepared to form your own carpools if there are no Mosaic or Nexus representatives.
