Fri 1 May. 1 South Franklin St., #230-825, Chicago, 60606. Laura Smith, 312-357-4851. Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago - [email][events]

Set in 2012 amidst the signing of a peace treaty between Israel and the Palestinians, Israeli playwright Motti Lerner’s PANGS OF THE Messiah is an apocalyptic yet fiercely humane drama about eight West Bank Jewish settlers pitted against an Israel they feel betrayed by. The play focuses on a religious family that finds itself torn between fighting to stay in their settlement and obeying their government’s decision to dismantle it. Left hanging in the balance is the legacy of their beliefs. Performances Thursdays at 7:30, Fridays at 8:00, Saturdays at 4:00 and 8:00, and Sundays at 4:00. No performance Thursday, April 9 for Passover. Directed by Jennifer Green, Artistic Director of Piven Theatre Workshop. Location: 77 W. Washington Street Lower Level Chicag
