In the post 9/11 world, one of the word’s leading authorities on Islam explains his culture and his people’s history to an often hostile Western World.

Ambassador Akbar Ahmed-anthropologist, former Pakistani High Commissioner and Oprah Winfrey’s go-to guest on Muslim issues: takes us back to his birthplace and traces the evolution of modern Pakistan, the attempts to achieve integration in the modern world, the rise of Islamic extremism in the face of Western ignorance, and efforts to build bridges through dialogue.

Performance by Dr. Ahmed of his "memoir-monlogue" marks the formal launch of the Wana Initiative on Conflict and Cultural Dialogue, hosted by Washington Hebrew Congregation.

The play was developed in cooperation with Theater J, the Washington DCJCC Dialogues Program, and the American University School of International Service.
