Beginner I Technique 16 Mondays, January 11-April 26, 8:15-9:15 pm Cost: $260 Instructor: Brianne Students will learn new movements each class, building coordination, grace, strength, and flexibility. Come discover the joy of this organic dance form and celebrate movement through an ancient, life-embracing art. Learn and practice basic technique including proper stance and posture, arm carriage and patterns, fundamental shimmies, isolations, introductory undulations and traveling steps. Choreography will be taught to incorporate new movements.
Sahara Dance class structure is based on a Western format of clear movement breakdowns, drilling the basics, hands on corrections and integrating movements through combinations, choreography and improvisational exercises.
No prior experience necessary. Wear comfortable, form-fitting clothing (hip scarf optional).
Brianne sought out belly dance classes after experiencing the beauty and unique expressiveness offered through this art form. She has been studying and dancing at Sahara Dance ever since. She is a member of the Sahara Dance company Raqs Caravan East and also performs as a soloist. Brianne brings a patient presence and gentle nature to her classes and hopes to convey her enthusiasm and love of this dance with her students.
