A Real Elephant

Come see a theatrical retelling of children's novel The Elephant by Alexander Kuprin. A two dimensional paper stage set comes alive with a blend of visuals, music and story. Yulya Dukhovny, composer and creator of "A Real Elephant" Toy Theater project, presents her 30 minutes performance - a combination of imaginary sets, shadows and original soundtrack. The show brings a new life into this small scale theater form that evolved in mid 19th century Victorian times. Yulya Dukhovny, the creator of "Scope Toy Theater", was born in Russia where she studied piano, composition and chorus conducting. She received her Masters in Music degree from the Ural Mussorgsky State Conservatory. In 1990, Ms. Dukhovny moved to Tel-Aviv, Israel where she lived and worked for 16 years. During that time, she focused on experimental projects, composing original scores for puppet theater, traditional theater and films. Ms. Dukhovny's music has been widely performed at International Puppet Theater Festivals. International press has praised her for "having a natural gift for creating texture in her music".
