In the Shadow of the Acropolis & It was Nothing . was Everything (Saviors on the Screen) Nearly 90% of Greek Jews—almost 65,000 individuals—perished during the Shoah. Of the approximately 10,000 who did survive, most were helped by neighbors who risked their own lives to save them. This year we will screen two documentaries about the Greek Jewish experience: In the Shadow of the Acropolis (by Laura Zelle and Maxine Davis in Association withTolerance Minnesota) features members of the Ackos family—Romaniote Jews whose presence in Greece dates back 2,000 years—relating their extraordinary story of survival.
