This course presents the history of Iran’s Jewry from time immemorial to the present. Among the subjects will be: Iranian Jewry in ancient times and under Islam; Messianic movements; Karaite Judaism; the Mongol court; in the shadow of Shi’ite Muslims; the crypto-Jews of Mashad as well as the intellectual life, education, Zionism and transformation of the Jews of Iran in modern times. We are privileged to have as the instructor Professor Daniel Tsadik who has a PhD from Yale and is Assistant Professor of Sephardic and Iranian Studies at Yeshiva University where he teaches where he teaches courses in the history of Jews in Iran and in Muslim lands. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6 times on Tuesdays 7:00 PM -
