Discussion Sunday, January 8, 2:30 P.M. Prof. Hasia Diner, NYU, and Prof. Aviva Ben-Ur, UMass, Amherst Emma Lazarus’ lifetime was a period of change and challenge in the American Jewish world. Diner and Ben-Ur assess what the Ashkenazi and Sephardic Jewish communities in late 19th-century New York shared and where they diverged. $10, $7 students/seniors, $5 members Co-sponsored by the American Jewish Historical Society Presented in conjunction with Emma Lazarus: Poet of Exiles.
