Singer Gallery, 7 p.m. $5 (general), $3 (students/seniors) Lamed Shapiro, who was born in Ukraine and came to the United States in 1905, personifies the struggles of Jewish modernists adrift in a changing culture. Leah Garrett, an associate professor of English Literature and Judaic Studies at University of Denver and the editor of a new book about Shapiro's life and work, will discuss the ways in which the Jewish experience of the violence of war is both unique and universal. 303-316-6360.
