Rabbi Marc Schneier, co-author of Sons of Abraham: A Candid Conversation about the Issues That Divide and Unite Jews and Muslims, will discuss his book at the Leventhal-Sidman Jewish Community Center (333 Nahanton Street) in Newton on Sunday, November 24 at 11am. Sons of Abraham analyzes passages in the Torah and Quran that have caused discord between Jews and Muslims. Schneier and Imam Shamsi Ali put forward a common agenda that transcends these differences and works towards healing the rift between Jews and Muslims.
Rabbi Schneier is the 18th generation of a rabbinic dynasty. He is currently Vice president of the World Jewish Congress (USA) and head of the Foundation for Ethnic Understanding. In 2007, Schneier was ranked in the top 50 of the most influential American Rabbis by Newsweek magazine. Imam Ismail Fenni of the Islamic Society of Boston will join Rabbi Schneier for the conversation. Moderating the event is Rabbi Victor Reinstein.
Open to the entire community. The program is part of the Ryna Greenbaum JCC Boston Jewish Literary Series. Cost is $18. Brunch included. Register at www.bostonjcc.org/bookfair or contact 617-965-5226 or boxoffice@jccgb.org
