Mel Urbach is a leading Shoah Restitution lawyer who devotes a significant portion of his legal practice to the recovery of stolen artwork and artifacts. He has spent many years navigating difficult claims ranging back to WWII. The son of a Holocaust survivor, he has assisted hundreds of Holocaust victims obtain restitution and compensation including the recovery of billions of dollars. He has represented families of WWII victims in several important art claims in Europe and the Americas including the heirs of the late Alfred Flechtheim. Recently the Limbach commission in Germany issued a landmark decision, instructing the Museum of Cologne to return art to the Flechtheim heirs.
