What difference does it make where we grow up? Probably a lot. It effects our sensibilities and interactions with others, our comfort levels, our sense of belonging and identity. Growing up as the only Jewish family (or two) in rural or small-town America was very different than being raised in boisterous Yiddish-infused tenements and apartments or sprawling Jewish-concentrated neighborhoods in the suburbs. The region made a difference too, and growing up in another country is another experience altogether. Three TCC members will share and compare the memories of their youth, the environments they found themselves in, and how it helped shape their outlook and identity today.
