Thu 12 Apr. 401 Grand Avenue, Suite 500, Oakland, 94610. Riva Gambert, Film Festival Director, 510.839.2900 ext. 256. Jewish Community Federation of the Greater East Bay - [email][events]
“It may well be the most exciting trip ever’ said Tali Lipschitz, the Shlicha for the Jewish Community Federation of the Greater East Bay when describing the Israel Teen Trip planned for June 27 through July 27, 2007. “So far,” notes Lipschitz, “We have 94 teens signed up for the trip, but the deadline is April 12th, so I strongly encourage teens who may be interested to contact me ASAP.”
This summer will mark the 21st anniversary of the program that has attracted teens from throughout the Bay Area. The trip that departs from Oakland will have teens from all over the Bay Area, and last year, was the biggest community trip from throughout North America. The special emphasis for the 2007 trip will be on Israel past and present.
And, as Lipschitz notes, "our trip is heavily staffed and extremely well-organized. On each bus, there will be an Israeli tour guide, two counselors with extensive teen experience, a medic and safety person, and we will also have a spiritual leader working with the entire group."
Participants will have the opportunity to do community service, attend a camp that closely approximates the Israel army and enjoy an extensive travel itinerary.
Scholarships are available through the East Bay’s Jewish Community Foundation, and scholarship applicants should contact Marilyn at 510.839.2900 ext. 256 or email at marilyn@jfed.org.
