Reward yourself with an outstanding panoramic view of the San Gabriel mountain range on top of Mt Waterman. This well-graded scenic trail takes you through magnificent Jeffrey Pines, manzanita groves, and shady scrub oak. streams, lupine and poppies adorn the trail. The hike is 6 miles long with 1,000' gain/loss and it is rated beginner-intermediate. Bring: two quarts of water, a light lunch, lug-soled shoes and some cash for a post-hike social get-together at Newcombes Ranch restaurant (8 miles from the start of the trail). The hike is relatively straight forward and is suitable for well-conditioned beginners. A windbreaker would be helpful since the wind sometimes whips through the saddle, where we stop for breaks, and maybe at the summit. NOTE: One mem
