Explore approaches toward the visual in both Jewish and Christian religious art, with the biblical admonition against graven images as a starting point, as well as the role of art in public and private worship settings. Collections of Jewish ceremonial art at the Skirball Cultural Center and Christian art at the J. Paul Getty Museum serve as points of comparison. Course includes both classroom and gallery components
