Ann Beattie introduces David Markson Rick Moody introduces Will Self William Kennedy praised David Markson as a "writer who kicks tradition out the window, then kicks the window out the window, letting a splendid new light into the room." Markson's novels include The Last Novel and Wittgenstein's Mistress. Ann Beattie's numerous novels and short-story collections include most recently, Follies: New Stories and The Doctor's House.

Will Self's writing bears "resemblances to the work not only of Nabokov, but also of Thomas Pynchon, William Gaddis and Don DeLillo," wrote The New York Times. Self's books include Great Apes, The Book of Dave and Psychogeography. Rick Moody's most recent book is Right Livelihoods: Three Novellas. His memoir, The Black Veil, won the PEN/Martha Albrand Award in 2002.
