Norman Rush, moderator Abraham Awolich, special guest Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie is the author of the novels Purple Hibiscus and Half of a Yellow Sun, the winner of the 2007 Orange Prize. "Here is a new writer endowed with the gift of ancient storytellers," wrote Chinua Achebe. "She is fearless." Dave Eggers’s books include A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius and What Is the What, a fictionalized biography of Sudanese civil war refugee Valentino Achak Deng.
Abraham Awolich is co-director of the New Sudan Education Initiative (NESEI), a program giving southern Sudanese youth the tools they need to rebuild their country and providing girls with access to secondary schooling.
The evening will be introduced and moderated by Norman Rush, the author of Mating, which won the National Book Award. His forthcoming novel is Subtle Bodies.
