Adult Education series with a screening and discussion of the classic documentary. The film looks at Jewish scholars, refugees from Nazi Germany, who found employment on the faculties of historically Black colleges in the US. It is a chronicle of Jim Crow America and a profound tale of two seemingly different groups - the formal, heavily acented European scholars and their young Southern Black students - who enriched each other's lives in ways still being felt today. Judy Smith, Professor of American Studies at UMass Boston, will lead a discussion following the film. Come at 10 a.m. for bagels and coffee. Recommended Donation - $5. All are welcome.
