Ditra Walsh Highlights are Mayan ceramics, jade and wood carving, stelae and architectural detail; the funerary urns of Monte Alban; and the fine pottery, carving, gold work, pictorial manuscripts and architectural detail of the Mixtec. The artisans of ancient Mexico created magnificent sculpture, ceramics, murals, jewelry, carvings, pictorial manuscripts and architectural detail. They were not created as art per se, but as ritual objects or depictions, offerings, vessels and everyday items. Through these art forms, the belief systems associated with them and the spiritual force they still embody, we can reach through time and space to know the people of ancient Mexico.
