Science and Ethics: A Marriage of Necessity and Choice for This Millennium Roald Hoffman Cornell University While science provides an incredibly successful system for acquiring reliable knowledge and transforming the world through technology, people remain ambivalent, if not downright suspicious of it. These concerns are ethical in nature and center on ecological and environmental issues.
Nobel Prize-winning chemist Roald Hoffmann argues that the nature of science is changing so that its successful actions are accompanied by ethical and environmental assessments. Hoffman is the Frank H. T. Rhodes Professor of Humane Letters at Cornell University. He is also a writer and a poet.
