Rabbi Dr. Gary P. Zola, Executive Director of the American Jewish Archives (AJA), will kick off the Scholar-in-Residence Weekend with “Profiles in American Jewish Courage,” examining three little known but fascinating models of Jewish courage, during worship services at 8 p.m., Fri., Jan. 8. He will discuss “What This Week’s Torah Portion Can Teach Us About American Jewish History” at 9 a.m., Sat., Jan. 9, examining the 19th century satirist and writer Gershon Rosenzweig. At the brunch and program, “Great Voices, Civil Rights and American Reform Judaism,” at 10 a.m., Sun., Jan. 10 Rabbi Zola will look at how leading American rabbis handled such pivotal world events as the outbreak of World War II from their pulpits.
