Hackensack River Pontoon Boat Tour

Hackensack River Pontoon Boat Tour/Richard W. DeKorte Park Trail/New Great Wall Sat Jun 12 8:00AM 2010 RSVP on Meetup. We will be meeting at 8:00am (YES. I know it is early, but this is the only time available on weekends), Saturday, June 12, at River Barge Park, Paterson Plank Road and Outwater Lane, Carlstadt, NJ 07072, 201-460-1700 or 201-460-4640, www.s. The cost is $15. YOU MUST Register AND PAY IN Advance. Download the form and send in your check.

The pontoon boat tour holds up to 12 people/boat and is 2 hours long. We will travel through 14 municipalities along the way: Little Ferry, South Hackensack, Teterboro, Moonachie, Carlstadt, Lyndhurst, North Arlington, Kearny, Jersey City, Secaucus, North Bergen and Ridgefield. We will also see these sights: Richard P. Kane Natural Area, Mill Creek Point Park, Route 3 Bridges, Berry's Creek Canal, Portal Bridge and Portal Tower, Hudson County Park, Sawmill Creek Wildlife Management Area and HX Drawbridge.
At 11:00, we will go meet at the Meadowlands Environmental Center, 2 DeKorte Park Plaza, Lyndhurst, NJ 07071, 201-460-1700 or 201-460-4640 to walk around and hike the trails. We will see the Jill Ann Ziemkiewicz Memorial Butterfly Garden, the Flyaway Gallery, the Earth Spiral by Elaine Lorenz and the Cove's World Trade Center Memorial. We will do both the intermediate and easy trails, for a total of 3 miles. The Meadowlands Area is now a work in progress, of reclamation and cleanup of years of unrestricted dumping that had occurred in this area. There are salt marshes, 260 species of birds and some turtles that nest here.
At 3:00, we will have an early dinner at New Great Wall Chinese Restaurant, 425 Valley Brook Avenue, Lyndhurst, NJ 07011, 201-935-7240.
Come for as much of the day as you like. THERE IS AN UNPAID MEMBER FEE OF $5. This is a kid friendly event, although only children 10 and older are allowed on the pontoon boats. Bring water, sunglasses, sunscreen and food.
Take Bus 192 from the NY Port Authority to go to the Richard W. DeKorte Park and meet us for the 11:00 hiking trails and dinner.
In case of extreme thunderstorms, the rain date is Saturday, June 19, with a meeting time of 8:00. If you are unable to make the raindate, they will refund your money.
