SALON NIGHT AT THE MIZEL Museum, AN Evening OF Stimulating Conversation Description: SALON NIGHT JUNE 2 AT THE MIZEL Museum, AN Evening OF Stimulating Conversation Denver – The Mizel Museum’s Salon Nights amuse and stimulate the mind and senses through improvisational ‘conversations’ held in the setting of the museum’s new exhibit, 4,000 Year Road Trip: Gathering Sparks. The next Salon Night will be held June 2, 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm at the Mizel Museum, 400 S. Kearney Street, Denver. Cost is $12.

Four of the museum’s Community Narratives Project digital stories will be shown and the subjects of the digital stories will offer thoughts, ideas and questions about their stories. Selected participants will share responses and the conversation will become even richer when the crowd shares their own impromptu responses. Wine and treats from the Jewish Diaspora will fire up the conversation.

The museum’s new permanent exhibit, 4,000 Year Road Trip: Gathering Sparks is the setting for Salon Nights. The exhibit, which opened to the public on February 2, takes visitors of all ages and backgrounds on a dynamic journey, exploring the richness and diversity of Jewish life, culture and history through the use of artifacts, fine art installations, video and photography.

Enhancing the visual beauty and uniqueness of the Mizel Museum’s new exhibit is the groundbreaking Community Narratives Project, a compilation of “digitial stories” that profiles 26 Denver Jewish community members through an audio/visual format. iPads incorporate the medium of digital storytelling into the exhibit, turning the stories into “living objects” that deepen the learning experience for museum visitors by opening a door to exploration and conversation about everything from immigration to Chevra Kadish, the pain of loss to the pride of inheritance. Each story is personal and compelling, and simultaneously gives a sense of the powerful history and legacy of the Jewish people. Museum visitors will have the opportunity to watch each of these stories as they tour the exhibit.

Reservations are required. For more information visit www.mizelmuseum.org/salons or contact Georgina Kolber, Curator of Exhibits, gkolber@mizelmuseum.org or 303-749-5014 303-749-5014 .
