Mahlon Dickerson Reservation in Jefferson Township

Sat Sep 10 10:00AM 2011 RSVP on Meetup. Sunday 6/05 Mahlon Dickerson Reservation in Jefferson Township, NJ hike (AMC rating of 2C5) ADK rating of B5B Sample the New Jersey Highlands with a loop past Morris County’s highest point (1,395 feet) while hiking along the Pine Swamp trail and nice verity of terrain on a 5 mile hike with 300 foot total elevation gain. Ample opportunity to see impressive stands of spruce, azalea, mountain laurel, and rhododendron. Bring lunch, sun protection, hiking boots and plenty of water. Meet at 10:00am parking lot for baseball field off Weldon Road just north of campgrounds of the park. Will go out to local restaurant afterwards.

Directions:
Take Interstate 80 West to Exit 34B and follow NJ 15North 4 miles to the Weldon Road Exit. Get off and turn right. Follow Weldon Road North another 4.5 miles into the reservation and its second entrance on the left into parking lot (this is the one AFTER the campground office). Do not use the entrance to trailer/RV Area, park just before it begins to go downhill. GPS 41 00.728' N, 74 33.883' W or 41.012672, -74.564201
