As a child Galeet Dardashti toured with her family, singing music from the Persian Jewish tradition. Granddaughter of Yona Dardashti, the most renowned singer of Persian classical music in his day and daughter of the highly esteemed cantor Farid Dardashti, Galeet is the first woman in her family to continue its tradition of distinguished Persian and Jewish musicianship. A Ph.D. in anthropology, she wrote her dissertation on contemporary Mizrahi and Arab music in Israel.
