Memoir of a Jewish Athlete in Apartheid South Africa

Tue 17 Apr. 334 Amsterdam Avenue, New York. 646-505-5708. JCC in Manhattan - [email][events]

Join Lorraine Lotzof Abramson, author of My Race: A Jewish Girl Growing Up Under Apartheid in South Africa as she discusses her personal experience as a gifted Jewish athlete growing up under the apartheid system of South Africa and her growing unease with the system of social inequality that simultaneously excluded her and celebrated her. Having escaped oppression in Eastern Europe, her grandparents found themselves in another oppressive society but this time they were on the “same side” as the oppressors by virtue of their white skin. How they lived in that society and dealt with this situation, is part of her story. With the support of JICNY - Jewish International Community of New York. ------------------------------------------------------------------
