Rejected by their husbands and ostracized by their communities, these women are left to spend the rest of their lives in loneliness and shame. Instead, they make the choice to take the long and arduous journey to the Addis Ababa Fistula Hospital in search of a cure and a new life. Director Mary Olive Smith follows them on their journey, which helps them find solace for the first time in years.
A talk and Q&A with Kate Grant, Executive Director of the Fistula Foundation, follows the screening. (2007, 85 min. No MPAA rating. In English and Amharic with English subtitles.)
