Saul Bellow once said, “Oppressed people tend to be witty.” But not just about the oppressors. Also about themselves. Our humor takes on the high and mighty – community leaders and pompous rabbis – as well as the lowly and wretched, the schlemiel and the shlimazel. No subject is safe. Everything is grist for our mill. Bring a favorite joke or two to share with others. We’ll also have a vast assortment to learn on the spot. And then we’ll try to figure out what makes them funny, or not, and why laughing is so vital to our survival. Facilitated by Rabbi Peter Schweitzer.
