Annual Group Hike

Joint Passover Mosaic/Nexus/Kesher Israeli Annual Group Hike, Sunday, April 8th Come join Mosaic, Kesher Israeli, and Nexus on our annual joint Passover MEGA hike on Sunday, April 8. We will hike the Big Sycamore Canyon trail, in the Santa Monica Mountains, to Danielson Ranch. This hike is about 7 miles round trip on fire road with about 500 feet of elevation gain and is rated moderate. The trail follows Sycamore Canyon across Point Mugu State Park (the largest preserved area in the Santa Monica Mountains). It crosses a large stand of Sycamore trees, and is one of the most beautiful canyons in the area.

BRING: comfortable shoes, a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, 2 liters/quarts of water, lunch, a Passover treat to share and a jacket in case it is cool.

OPTIONAL: swimming at the beach after the hike. The beach is right across the road from the trailhead; bring a swimsuit and towel.

COST: There is a day use fee to park (~$6) or you can park on PCH for free. Be sure you have exact change!

We will meet at the trailhead at 11:00 AM (directions below). Rain cancels, but clouds don't.

CARPOOLS: We will carpool from the West LA, the West Valley/Calabasas, and Long Beach/Orange County.

West LA Carpool:

We will carpool from Trader Joe's - 10850 National Boulevard (at Westwood). There is plenty of parking on the side streets - do not park in the Trader Joe's lot. Meet in the UPPER Trader Joe's lot at 9:30 AM and leave at 9:45 AM SHARP!! PLEASE NOTE: there may be no Mosaic, Kesher Israeli, or Nexus people at this carpool point, so form your own carpools.

West Valley/Calabasas Carpool:

We will meet at Parkway Calabasas and Ventura Blvd at the CHEVRON Gas Station at 10:00 AM SHARP!! (Parkway Calabasas exit from the 101; Ventura Blvd is on the North side of the freeway.) Plenty of street parking. PLEASE NOTE: there may be no Mosaic, Kesher Israeli, or Nexus people at this carpool point, so form your own carpools.

Long Beach/Calabasas Carpool:

Meet behind the CVS Pharmacy (formerly RiteAid) in the Ralph's/Target Shopping Center on Seal Beach Blvd. where the Hwys. 22/405/605 meet -- 12490 Seal Beach Blvd Seal Beach, CA 90740-2711 (At Saint Cloud). Take Seal Beach Blvd. exit and make a right. Make a right into the shopping center at St. Cloud (You will see a CVS Pharmacy; there is plenty of parking BETWEEN CVS Pharmacy and Ralph's). There is a Starbuck's and various other restaurants and stores such as ZPizza, Togo's, Island's, Target, etc. in the same parking lot. Meet at 9:15 AM, we will leave at 9:30 AM SHARP!! DIRECTIONS to Trailhead:

From Los Angeles, take the Santa Monica Freeway (10) West until it becomes Pacific Coast Highway (PCH). Continue North/West for approximately 32 miles (approximately 15 minutes past Zuma Beach) to Big Sycamore Canyon Campground in Point Mugu State Park. Walk past the campground entrance through the camp ground to a locked gate. The trail begins on the other side of the gate.

From the San Fernando Valley, take US-101 North to Topanga Canyon Boulevard (or Las Virgenes/Malibu Canyon or Kanan-Dume) South to Pacific Coast highway (PCH). Turn right (North/West) on PCH. Follow directions above
