Technical Apprenticeship (Three-week class) Grades 7–12 Week 1: Th–F, July 5–6, noon–6 p.m. (Note that this workshop begins on Thursday.) Week 2: M–F, July 9–13, noon–6 p.m. Week 3: M–F, July 16–20, 9 a.m.–4 p.m. Mandatory Technical Rehearsal: Sunday, July 15, noon–8 p.m. Performances: Wednesday, July 18 (evening) Thursday, July 19 (matinee and evening) Friday, July 20 (matinee) Sunday, July 22 (matinee and evening) Shwayder Theatre and Workshop $270

A limited number of technical apprenticeship positions are offered in conjunction with each Academy Production Workshop. Apprentices will enjoy personal instruction and hands-on experience in working with the production’s backstage elements, which include sets, lights, sound and props using the state-of-the-art equipment of the newly renovated Shwyader Theatre. (Costume work is not included in this workshop.) Students work side-by-side with the Mizel Center’s production manager, summer technical director and professional designers. Each student then fills a technical crew position for the session’s mainstage production.
