Novelist Dalia Sofer: Growing Up Jewish in Iran Dalia Sofer Join the author of the best-selling novel The Septembers of Shiraz as she discusses growing up Jewish in Iran. Dalia Sofer was born in Tehran, where she lived until age 10. After spending time in Israel, she came to New York and earned an MFA in fiction from Sarah Lawrence College. Her essays have been published in the anthologies Yentl’s Revenge: The Next Wave of Jewish Feminism and France, a Love Story. She is a regular contributor to publications such as Poets & Writers magazine and the Academy of American Poets’ National Poetry Almanac.
